I have some folks of Mexican origin working for me. A neighbor lady commented to one of them that he spoke "good English". He later asked me "What is good English?"
Having been criticized by an Aussie for speaking American English, and having listened to a Brit pronounce Nicaragua as Ni-car-ag-u-a, I guess I am curious if there is such a thing as "good English"? Any thoughts?
The neighbor's comment was a racist one..assuming that all people of Mexican descent are immigrants who had to learn English.
There are many versions of the English language, correct within their own countries.
