Hello to everyone there and stumble upon my posts. I look forward to getting speak with you! For my first post it may be wordy, but perhaps you'll dig it? We're pretty small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, we're barely a blip on the EKG of the universe. On second thought, make that the entire existence of humanity which has hardly made a spike. There's a quote I've always enjoyed. It's said by Matthew McConaughey's character,Rust Cohle, in the tv show 'True Detective'. "Human consciousness, is a tragic misstep in evolution. We became too self-aware, nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself, we are creatures that should not exist by natural law. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self; an accretion of sensory, experience and feeling, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everybody is nobody." Had a bad day? Shrug it off the best you can. We have finite days to live. Hard medicine to swallow, take it with a spoonful of sugar. Think you're better than someone else? You're not. Based on what? Your upbringing, education, wealth, intellect, genetics? It honestly doesn't matter, it's all circumstantial. We're just a bunch of advanced primates on a random hunk of rock with the exact recipe to harbor life, spinning with a handful of other planets around a small star in a solar system out of 200+ billion solar systems which are in this Galaxy alone. Give meaning to what you want. Feel good, do good, be good. Try your best, or not, it's up to you. It just makes this whole time we're all here together better and more tolerable if we just try. It's all about #perspective #life #meaning #thereisnomeaning #wecreateit #beexcellenttoeachother #think #lucky #astronomy #grandscheme #small #iswhatitis #thinkitover

Very thoughtful. Welcome aboard. Just discussing self awareness with a friend - some see that as intellect - it has been discovered in ants. So, just where do we stand. Thoreau in Walden Pond discussed ants at war and how their battles were no less bloody than those of humankind.

No way. We are our own gods, and we are awesome.

By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve.

For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.

You can improve your website score in general by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.

Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.

Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others who are compatible with them.

In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at [agnostic.com].
