Branaugh is clearly England's latest gift to assisting the appreciation of Shakespeare. Oliver perhaps for the previous generation, but a little too hammy for my taste.

Although I think he's a putz in real life, I thought Gibson was an excellent Hamlet. He really is a good actor, which makes the fact that he's such a contemptible human being even more baffling. Branagh tends to pontificate to the point that every movie he does is just "The Kenneth Branagh Show" and Olivier, though revered in his time, overacted. Not saying I didn't enjoy the other movies, but Gibson nailed the character.

Haven’t seen them all so can’t vote....but I liked Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet. Btw he is Northern Irish, born in Belfast, where I am off to on the train in a couple of hours!

Have a great time!!
