@ollieberry character building is a universal phenomenon, but not all character is well built. It depends on the architect and the material used.

@Dwight The Material used? One man's trash is another man's treasure. I don't object to the term shithole countries. That is precisely why people are fleeing them. That and the fear of imminent danger. The country of origin should not be a stain on the immigrant.. great things spring out of adversity when given a chance to flourish. You make the assumption they are inferior building material. My country was built with your so called inferior building material. I don't know where you are from but I am American and we are all immigrants other than the indigenous tribes. All most all came here seeking a better life and fleeing there own personal shitholes. Damn few were well connected.

@ollieberry appreciate your points. I don't believe that there are any shithole countries. However, the occasional bad apple turns up. This is generally a failure of character. I use the terms architect and material metaphorically. I intended no offense. We all have value as human beings, even the bad apple. Not sure where you see any assumptions other than an architect and material are two related factors in building something.
