I went to CVS today to pick up a prescription and there was a young woman with two little girls, maybe 3 and 5. The little one was crying. The woman, who was on crutches, was trying to comfort her. They were walking out the same time as me and the little girl who already had a bloody nose from vomiting, became very ill and was crying and throwing up. I asked the woman what I could do to help her. She had her hands full with the crutches and the two little ones. She said her younger daughter has a peanut allergy and had accidentally eaten something with nuts in it. She came into CVS to get an epi pen, but for some reason wasn't able to get it. I thought I heard the pharmacist say that it was too soon to get another one and the insurance company wouldn't approve it. So she was going to the fire department. She assured me that they would help her (she apparently is a paramedic and knows these things).
What kind of a country is so heartless that a 3 year old girl with a life threatening illness is turned away?
This made ME sick to my stomach.
Amurika.
No need for using insurance at all.
