You ever think you have a great question or answer only to try to figure out what friends or strangers don't understand about what you said (or relevancy to situation) once you say it?
Then you've explained 3 separate ways and by then the original is too far gone and you're misunderstood again. I can't be the only one this happens to.

It gets easier with time, meaning, age… And keep in mind, the more you learn/ know - the less you’ll have in common with the world.. Seek safe, diversified friends, and know when to ..shut up… it’s sad, but sometimes it’s simply not worth the effort attempting to explain everything to everyone..

Welcome to my world.

I often had that problem with some of the students I work with until a teacher recognised that I was making assumptions about their prior knowledge and learning and used a ladder analogy.

There is no point trying to show someone what is on the top step unless they have first climbed the bottom steps so that they can see what you are looking at.

We often assume that others have a similar understanding and knowledge to us which very often isn't the case.

It's also how economists and politicians convince the masses that giving more money and tax breaks to their rich friends and putting austerity on the masses will allow the rich to employ more and make the poor richer.....

What did you say before you said that? NO, that's not what I mean, I think I mean what were you thinking about, what to say or what would they think? Was it a Tuesday? What were we talking about, oh yeah - I think it only happens to you. 🙂

Take heart fellow traveler...you may have stepped into a new 'to you' domain! Learning is work, allow yourself to express from YOUR 'nature' ...then use what 'speaks' to you and let the other pass on by! I have found learning to come in bits and pieces! Although, there was a time that I wanted, 'it all' and right then, if possible! IT ISN'T POSSIBLE!

People understand you from where they are. If you don't see where they are, you might never connect.

You just described my relationship with my mother. She rarely understands what I mean to say. I've stopped caring about getting my point across.

The responses to this question (though maybe I should have left out great that's a little ego-eccentric) makes that very clear. Interesting though, there seems to be a common thread of 'oh I totally understand!' followed by a lot of different responses after that. This question is about a question or answer no a specific question or response.

watch their eye's. Re-explain it and see the exact moment they got confused.

That happens a lot to me. I guess we tend to expect others to have the same general understanding of topics as we do. I have certain interests that I'm very knowledgeable about, and when I try and discuss some of those with people, I get blank stares. I usually try to explain a little bit, but it ends up being pointless in most cases.
