How many people wake up one day and are unable to do simple things like making your bed, doing laundry or going to the grocery store? But last week, no problem.

"What's wrong with me" some might ask; "it could be depression," i answer.

The Impossible Task is one of the more challenging symptoms of depression, and often gets no sympathy from those who just can't understand it.

The inability to complete these parts of a daily routine, the smallest of tasks ― making your bed, doing laundry or going to the grocery store ― often make no sense to people who aren’t living with the condition. Especially when the person with depression was able to do them so easily once before. Here is a good article which will help what the condition looks and feels like.

I know about depression all too well. There's still so much people don't understand about it. There's a mental health support group on this site, it's a wonderful place to share and learn.

Absolutely right that there is so much that people still don't understand or accept about depression, @bleurowz. Unfortunately, in respect to some aspects of depression, neither do the scientific researchers or those tasked with helping those challenged with depression. Supportive people are critical to any form of well being. Glad you've found this one. Wish you well.

That's so sad.

People could try CBD oil for depression, since it's sold in most health food stores, but they might have to get a friend to do it if they can't shop.

Link: "A 2015 study concluded that CBD oil treats numerous forms of anxiety, including social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder."

It is sad. I agree that the CBD is a beneficial option for some, and certainly worth trying.

you're asking if anyone else is that depressed. yes. for sure.

g

No, not exactly, @genessa. I don't suffer from depression, but have and have had many friends, acquaintances, and clients who do suffer from it. Since science is learning more about this mental health issue constantly, this was an FYI post to see if there are people who are not aware of such symptoms of depression, including spouses, friends, and lovers of those who do.

@josephr oh for sure. some folks think depressed people are just lazy! being depressed myself, i know better. but the info might be helpful to many.

g

Absolutely, @genessa. That's what my parents tried to make me believe, unsuccessfully. Educating the public about mental health realities including depression must remain a priority.
