I signed up for this website because I want to date a man who is not a crazy Christian. I love the site and discussion but not finding many men in my area. Is anyone else feeling this way?
Haha! Yes, I was intrigued by the "dating" aspect at first, but I live on a small island with not a lot of people out about being atheist or agnostic in a super new agey community.
Happy to enjoy this site for the discussions, and just be happy on my own without dating for now. First time in my life, I think, that I'm not under the control of a man, so I'm enjoying my freedom.
I'm beginning to feel the same way. Just having a real hard time getting over a relationship right now anyways. I don't suppose a new guy will cure that for me.
Tons of men in my area. Not helpful.
I'm not interested in Illinois. That is one place I would not want to live. That whole area of the country is of no interest to me.
I am both offended, and in agreement. I am complicated.
Even though I'm not looking for feminine companionship at present, maybe I will in the future. A larger user base would be useful to that end for everyone. Regardless, it's a good site and I like it for its community.
Hi, Confidentrealm, and welcome to the website.
Yeah, the members are a bit thin since this is a new website.
By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve, so here's some info, in case you need it.
For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.
You gain website points by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.
Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.
If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.
Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others with similar interests..
In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at [agnostic.com].
Thanks for the info. I always wondered about the % thing.
Yeah, it's a problem that's been discussed a lot on here. People are spread out all over the place. But it's not just a dating site by any means. I assume that aspect will be better as we get more members.
Both men and women complain that there aren't a significant number of available dates in their areas . Kind of makes me wonder , what they were expecting to find ?
I was expecting to find a date or maybe a mate. That's what it was advertised as..I like it, don't get me wrong. But I want to find someone. That's all.
@confidentrealm me too
@confidentrealm There are over 40,000 people signed up for Agnostic.com . Some are not available for dating , but most are . If men and women can't find a date or mate suitable , out of over 40,000 makes me wonder what they're looking for ?
@Cast1es someone in my area. Houston is big but there are very few men in my age range available here. I get the same few when I search. Most have not been on here for months.
@confidentrealm I'm in Houston , too ! I've been thinking of holding a meet up at my home . I'm thinking something around Halloween , with everyone in costumes . Pot luck dinner . I'll most likely need some help with it . Would you be willing to help me ? To date , I've asked three separate folks to help me get it going . Everyone complains , but no one is willing to put forth any effort .
