Listening to Contraption Vol. 1 and digging it so far. Don't know if you're familiar with Amon Tobin but I'm under the impression you might enjoy his stuff. Here's a sampling:

There was a group some years back called The Washington Squares that I loved. A very hip folksy trio. I still have one of their albums. Gotta see if any of their stuff is online.

Here's two more, because I'm gluttonous, one of which is likely much more controversial than the other:

Clutch. This band from Maryland defines themselves as Professional Rock, to the point that their site is pro-rock.com. Others describe them as stoner rock combined with hillbilly metal, but the lead singer's booming voice paints pictures with texture.

Fleet Foxes. Whenever I'm depressed, I put on Mykonos and remember someone has written a song about my life, and sung it with such a haunting sound that it soothes away the pain like a rainy day in the Spring.

I love Beats Antique too and have known them forever. I dance Tribal Fusion Belly dance and Zoe Jakes has been my idol (non-religious of course) since I started tribal fusion. Beats Antique was extremely popular in the tribal fusion community years ago when it was originally a gothic and steampunk style belly dance.

Another band I liked that sort of similar sort of not was Maduro.
