Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.In my day the phone was a box on the wall with a crank on the side of it. Later on it was a round finger dial phone with numbers in it. Even then you could dial zero for the operator and say "gimme Prospect 459" if you knew that number.

I my day the phone was wireless but stopped working if you left the porch!
