Has anyone read Can We Be Good Without God? By Buckman.
[amazon.ca]
I read it many years ago and I’m wondering what others think. Also would like to know if there are any new books on the topic.

nope. i feel no desire to read about why we can or cannot be good without god. i am sick of being told that i can't be. i know that's not true. so what do i have to read about it for?

Really think you should read the review of the book if you don’t care to read the book it self, You might discover the content is different than you assume.

@Ingi i am not assuming anything. i just don't need to read about it. if the book says we can be good without god, great, but why do i have to read it? i know that already. if the book says otherwise, ick. i assume the former is true or you wouldn't be posting it. but i am saying the topic is not one i need to read about. i have had numerous conversations about this, usually unpleasant, with various people saying no, you can't. if the book contains one more argument i never thought of, good, great, let people who are unsure read it. i don't feel i need to do that.

@genessa ah yes. I see your point. I read it as much because of the author, an alumni of Monty Python. It isn’t so much a “how you can” book as why do people believe and an exploration of our humanity. And it is very clever and approachable.

@Ingi clever is good. approachable is good. i am not saying it shouldn't exist. enjoy!

Another book that I think is similar is Good Without God by Greg Epstein. Published in 2010.

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll look for it.

Either you are a decent, kind person, or you are not. I think believing in vengeful demanding "gawds" does Nothing to foster those traits.
