Should overweight people buy two seats on the airplane? A while ago, I had a 3:30 hr flight from Istanbul to Tehran and it was an absolute nightmare! I was leaning out into the aisle during the whole flight because the guy next to me was easily 350 lb or more. He was visibly uncomfortable as well, and all I could think of was "why didn't you buy two seats?". I have nothing against overweight people, but I don't think I should suffer because of someone else's choices. I didn't complain to the flight crew because I didn't want the guy to feel bad about himself. Now I understand Bill Burr's frustration in the following clip. Little did I know that I would experience a VERY similar situation.

What do you think?

I agree.

After living abroad I'm always startled at all the obese people I see when I return to the US.

It's mostly due to growth hormones given beef cattle, GMOs, pesticides, etc. in the conventional food supply. My slender, healthy, Thai friends tell me they also suddenly gain a lot of weight whenever they visit the US, but quickly lose it when they return to Thailand, and the natural Thai food.

Yes. You pay for the space you occupy. And if the flight is fully booked but someone paid for one seat and is taking up two, someone else either ends up standing, which is absurdly unsafe, or put on another flight, possibly fucking up their entire schedule. They cram as many people as possible into every plane and schedule transfers right on top of one another as it is.

Honestly, I would've been much more comfortable standing up now that I think about it.
