Simple..unplug the TV and put it in a back room whenever you are done watching something.

If you have to bother to set up the TV each time you hanker for a show, you might just decide to walk the dog instead.
If you don't have a dog, get the shelter and adopt a calm, friendly, cute one..it will give you an excuse to exercise and dogs can be great chick magnets.

By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve, so here's some info, in case you need it.

For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.

You gain website points by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.

Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.

Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others with similar interests..

In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page.

Plan. Pick a day. Don't watch for that whole day. Add another day, and so on.

You have the remote. You have the power.

I've not really cut down the amount of TV I watch, but I have drastically changed the quality of the programs. I have a smart DVD player through which I get Netflix, Amazon Prime, and (at least for now) free YouTube. I'm rather picky about what I watch, and don't have to endure all the stupid, goddamn commercials of regular network TV. On YouTube, I can get the political stuff I want, plus the sports I enjoy watching (mostly mountainbiking and surfing), as well as the music vids I want; and on the premium channels, I can get high quality series of virtually any genre, plus movies. All this runs around $50/month. This, aside from my reading, is basically all my entertainment since I don't eat out or go to movies, and rarely to concerts.

The vast wasteland is even vaster. No one can save you. Turn it off. Unplug it. Take it to the curb. Stop streaming on your computer. Go out for a walk! If you have dog, take it with you. Don't buy that newspaper, instead talk to the first person you encounter. Invite them to join you on your walk. Take the next step that seems natural.

Aside from the jesting sarcasm to just turn off the TV, you could just cut back the time you spend watching TV little by little.

Pick a show, or two that you're into, and only watch TV during those shows. (if they're hours apart, then....I dunno, flip a coin) Once that show ends that's more time cut back until you're basically at a point where you're attitude from TV goes from "I can't wait to see my show!" to "meh, I'd rather be doing something else."

Only you can turn off your TV, smart phone and other addictive screens.

Get outdoors to exercise and enjoy nature!

I'm outside everyday. If I can I'll take your word for it
