So might aunt is super christian religious.my sis asked her why does gh osts/demons haunt places?? My aunts response if u have horror movies porn movies it leads to drugs & so on& thats why their haunting ur place..i have a collection of horror movies,horror figures & some porn but i don't drink or do drugs . Ur thoughts on her statement???

she is one of the gullible people preyed upon by those whose only motivation is gaining and keeping power. unfortunately, the way that works is that gullible people tend to raise more gullible people. you're lucky you can see that it's ridiculous, but to them it's very serious. don't even try to point out the idiocy of the argument to her. she won't see it; she'll see your contradicting her as a sign you're possessed or something. laugh and say, thanks for the input, auntie. now, what's for lunch? oh and your sis sounds a little gullible too if she's asking about ghosts.

When I was religious we were constantly told about Satan and the demons influencing our lives. They were crawling all over the place and everything was a threat! I stopped believing in the devil before god but it took quite a while before I lost the fear of dark places and having to look behind me at night.

Every once in awhile, I run across someone who uses religion to justify some reason why the world is the way it is. Often it can be, "since they took prayer out of schools, our society has fallen apart", or "because God is ignored in America, He is abandoning us". I do not even try to understand their mindset since it is obvious it comes from a deep, dark corner of their psyche. Just humor her and nod silently in agreement.
