Most space battles depicted in movies involve all sorts of things that are (1) impossible but (2) dramatic. The sound of explosions and both the sound and the reality of swooping and zooming about as if an aircraft were in a dogfight ... none of these things would happen in space, or even play out very quickly.

But ... it's relatable to the audience, many people are ignorant of the inconsistencies, and it moves a good story along.

The simple fact is most people will be angrier if they aren't entertained, than if there are logical inconsistencies in the depiction. Since Hollywood makes movies to make money, guess which consideration wins.

I feel similarly about medical dramas. As an open heart RN, the inconsistencies and nonsense drive me so crazy, I can’t watch. We all know that movies are for entertainment and the laws of physics are twisted. However, religion effects people to thier core and thier belief in that whole fallacy influences peoples actions. That, I have issue with

@TheAstroChuck my all time favorite scenes are when they shock a patient that has flatlined. It’s the last thing we would ever do

what have you got against movies? movies don't necessarily fuck physics. religion, sure. why movies?

g

@JustKip you are watching the wrong movies!

g

@JustKip right. as i said, you've been watching the wrong movies. there actually are movies that are not action, adventure or space movies. honest there are.

g

@TheAstroChuck lol i agree with myself. you're both watching the wrong movies.

g

@TheAstroChuck i have a list in the back of my head if anyone ever wants recommendations. some of them might have physics-related errors; one of them has some continuity errors. most are just fine.

g

@TheAstroChuck i am old too and don't have an easy way to get to movies. however, i do have a tee vee! they show movies on that. i don't watch most of them. i'm picky. but the movies in my mental list are not to be found in the theatres. not only do you not have to go out to see them, you mostly can't (unless you live in a city with a lot of rep houses).

Also, when being followed by bad guys driving a car, and you're on foot, be sure to walk down the center of the street.

If you hear of a grave danger approaching your home, never call to warn anyone, don't even drive a car..just start running across town to warn them.

Before following a criminal into an empty warehouse at midnight, never tell anyone where you are, and be sure to leave your cell phone in your car.
