Most space battles depicted in movies involve all sorts of things that are (1) impossible but (2) dramatic. The sound of explosions and both the sound and the reality of swooping and zooming about as if an aircraft were in a dogfight ... none of these things would happen in space, or even play out very quickly.

But ... it's relatable to the audience, many people are ignorant of the inconsistencies, and it moves a good story along.

The simple fact is most people will be angrier if they aren't entertained, than if there are logical inconsistencies in the depiction. Since Hollywood makes movies to make money, guess which consideration wins.

I feel similarly about medical dramas. As an open heart RN, the inconsistencies and nonsense drive me so crazy, I can’t watch. We all know that movies are for entertainment and the laws of physics are twisted. However, religion effects people to thier core and thier belief in that whole fallacy influences peoples actions.
