The real Donald Trump tweet:

The paid D.C. protesters are now ready to REALLY protest because they haven’t gotten their checks - in other words, they weren’t paid! Screamers in Congress, and outside, were far too obvious - less professional than anticipated by those paying (or not paying) the bills!

He is attacking ordinary citizen's right to protest by stoking and sharing his paranoiac fear with his supporters.

He is a pathological liar and con artist.

it's worse than just making false accusations, which is bad enough. it's an indicator -- because he follows the joseph goebbels playbook. "accuse the other of that which you are doing yourself." remember his candidacy announcement? remember the actors he hired to come and cheer for him there?

He can’t fathom anyone doing anything for any reason other than money.

Sadly, I think that's probably true of a lot (most? all?) people in government in DC. At the very least the people in Congress.

@bingst actually, no, not most. but all republicans, for sure. that's a lot, of course. we can change that SOON.

@genessa I actually think that’s too broad a brush. People go into politics for all kinds of reasons. Some actually want to make the world a better place. For many I would guess it’s also about power.
Trump, on the other hand, is motivated by money, power, fame, perceived popularity. But doing anything for reasons of morality probably never enters his mind.

@A2Jennifer sorry, in terms of republicans, the brush is appropriately broad. we've had leaks from their meetings. we know what their agenda is AS AN ENTITY, not just personal agendas of individual republicans or even small groups of them. i know good politicians. i am personally acquainted with keith ellison (a democrat) and he is wonderful. i've dealt with mark dayton and he is wonderful too. i observed obama; he is wonderful. but i have not YET met a republican politicians, or seen one in action, whose actions were completely ethical, and most of them are quite the opposite. those who are not completely unethical are mostly unethical. look at susan collins. she knows damned well kavanaugh will attack roe v wade, never mind all his other issues, and she claims to be in favor of reproductive rights. someone got to her. i don't think it was that difficult to do. she is atypical not because she caved but because she even pretended to resist.
