Friendly reminder: Make sure you get your flu shot this year. I know others have mentioned this before, but just want to make extra sure. It doesn't hurt this year - it's fairly mild! (My main issue is that I stupidly leaned on a wall on that arm right on the shot-spot and now it hurts, but otherwise I have been pain free the whole time.)

I get the flu shot every year. I have had the shingles shot and the pneumococcal shot. I believe in vaccination.

Got my flu shot the end of September & getting my 2nd shingles vax on my birthday in November. I am firmly on team Don't Want It.

Awesome! I've had shingles before, and it was incredibly annoying. I didn't even know it was a thing at the time.

As soon as I am done with this pneumonia I will get it. I had the flu last year and it was awful!

Eek. I'm in my 50s...have never had a flu shot...and haven't even had a cold since 2005. I've never had the flu ever in my life.
It's amazing how healthy a body can be if you eat foods everyday that improve health instead of harming it.

While I appreciate your sentiments....and I believe that all the people who don't take care of themselves and their bodies SHOULD get the shot, I'm going to try to go at least another decade without the shot.

Not trying to be sarcastic, but does your eating properly help other's immune systems get better? I get the shot because I know people who can't, and we need herd immunity to be high enough.

@PolyWolf Everyone can make their own decision to eat healthy, whole foods or not. That is their choice. I am not responsible for their choices. Today I've already had 4 bananas, 2 oranges, an apple, some raw snow peas and a baked sweet potato. Easy choices.

@SkotlandSkye So you don't care about the immunocompromised, or children who are too young to get the shot, or those who are too old to get them? It's okay, just curious. I have high empathy, and I know if I couldn't get them for some reason, I'd have to rely on others to, or just potentially die.

@PolyWolf You have high empathy? So, then you've gone vegan, right? Because anyone who eats dead flesh and wears the skin of our fellow Earthlings has NO real empathy.
BTW, trying to dictate what people do with their bodies is as offensive as killing animals. Sentient beings have the right to control what happens to their own bodies. You want to dictate what I put in my body because, I assume, your mindset is that YOU also have the right to pay people to murder animals for you to eat. That is NOT "high empathy". In fact, it's quite the opposite.

i almost always get mine, but haven't yet this year... i think i was on denial about summer coming to an end

Get it. Have you? I don't want a repeat of the infections I contracted when you didn't take all your antibiotic pills.

I have to get it. There are people in my life that can't get it, including my mother and young niece. This is part of how I help protect them and take care of them.

Anyone that can get it, but doesn't is risking their lives and countless others.

I'm the only person in my office that did not get a flu shot this morning. I'm allergic to the shot. I thank everyone in my office for getting the shot.

I am a flu shot hero and I agree. I once had flu and I felt like I was going to die. The common cold is not flu. If you have flu you are extremely unwell and bed bound. Get a shot. If you are in UK most people get them free of charge. Please do this as flu puts a lot of pressure on health services world wide.

100%. Thank you. I appreciate the input and reinforcement.

I get mine each year...my spouse does not...I have never had the flu...he gets it 3-4 times per season...hmmmm?

I'm sure they try to chalk it up to you just having a better immune system or something. Any rationale works for these people, it seems. I, for one, am much happier that you're healthy.

@PolyWolf I would be upset if I had children or others more easily affected...I was very protective when my elderly mother lived with me...I just would not let anyone near her if they were sick at all...frankly, sometimes stupidity needs to die off...unfortunately, we can't pick and choose how that happens...

A couple of days ago, I had a circular conversation with an conspiracy believing anti-vaxxer. Everyone that can should be vaccinated. Last year 80,000 people died in the US due to the flu including 172 children. These are record numbers. There are so many myths that surround flu shot like the fact that you can get the flu... entirely false. It is not a live virus. Anyway, we should protect our families, communities( especially the most vulnerable) and ourselves.

I'm so with you. I was actually one of the people to have gotten the Swine Flu, and I can tell you, I almost didn't live through it, more because I thought I'd kill myself from the constant coughing and the headaches those induced. I wish that upon no one, not even Trump, it was that bad.

ptsd here, also a bit immune-system compromised (no, not hiv or anything like that). besides, it's too late -- i already have it, or something like it! but it's a good idea for most people, especially if they go out among others, which i mostly don't. keep the herd immunity strong.
