So a man messaged me earlier. He said he's a Christian. I said there is no point in getting to know me because I'm an atheist...

Later he wrote that he changed to atheist

I said, "I call bullshit."

Oh boy, they’re coming out of the woodwork this month.

You could've tested that theory even further by proclaiming yourself to also be the twelvth reincarnation of a 14th Century Persian warrior who died in 1362 and that you now only eat foods beginning with the letter C and see if he went along with it or thought you were a kook. If he thought you were a kook, he'd have passed the test. If he went along with it then, yeah, desperate. Really desperate.

Dating sites tend to be full of scammers and nearly all the scammers claim to be Christian. Go figure.

Wow, that's really sad. He sounds so desperate that he would say anything he'd think you would want to hear.

That's so cool of you

Should have just gone with it. You might have gotten a nice dinner (and boring conversation) out of it for free!

And some preaching...of course, I could have turned it around.

when i was in japan i was asked about the holocaust. i briefly explained (not easy to do). i was asked "if people didn't like jews, why didn't the jews just stop being jewish?"

g

We all know the answer to that.
Why is it though that a religion can define a people? People born of Catholics aren't labeled as Catholic by their genes.
And, can anyone know (if he is real) was Jesus Arabic, Persian, Roman, North African Greek, or some other ethnic group?

@Beowulfsfriend because catholics have separate nationalities unrelated to their religions. they don't need the religion to define an identity. jews, from the diaspora to the creation of modern israel, have had no national identity, and thus clung to jewishness as well as judaism. so jewishness is an ethnicity.

g

@genessa what about Ethiopian Jews? Or other neo Jewish people in Africa who carry the Cohen gene - they obviously have mixed ethnicity. Or the small enclave in China of Jewish Chinese? Many Jews do have an ethnicity, but it is not from their religion.

@Beowulfsfriend so they're jews. so they have an ethnicity. there is more than one. that doesn't change what i said.
