Any comments on Jamal Khashoggi? Let alone killing the poor guy, why like that? This gruesome event has transpired only because his fiance was outside the consulate and reported him missing. Otherwise, this would have been the perfect murder..... The question stands...why???????
He was murdered because he was a Saudi journalist who criticised the regime. It is an an absolute monarchy and no dissent is tolerated. They are one of the most repressive and archaic regimes in the world. Women are treated as property and cannot travel without the permission of male guardians. The fact that they have massive oil reserves and buy obscene amounts of arms from USA and UK makes them almost untouchable as far as sanctions for this heinous murder. It was all planned in advance as they knew he would be visiting the embassy that day....a murder squad had been dispatched and was waiting for him. I am afraid they will probably get away with it without any serious repercussions.
I wonder the extent of implications here.....
How many Trump Towers does Don the Con have in Saudia Arabia? His Administration, including Mitch McConnell and the Rethuglicans keep lining their pockets financially. CONFLICT OF INTEREST ANYONE??!!
Doesn't make sense. If someone is filling their pockets full then way jeopardize the bussines by killing that fellow? I think the story is something else....
I think it is dreadful that someone going about their own business was tortured and murdered by their own countrymen. Just for wanting to get married.
That isn’t why they had him bumped off....he was a journalist who criticised the Saudi regime. He was a thorn in their side and they saw a chance to get rid of him and took it. They are an absolute monarchy and do not tolerate any dissent inside the county or out. The fact that they are sitting on huge oil reserves and buy obscene amounts of arms from USA and UK makes them almost untouchable and they probably knew they would get away with this heinous act, which no doubt they will!
@Marionville I understand that. I also know he is a US citizen.
@Amisja I don’t think he was a US citizen, was he?
@Marionville They said so on Radio 4. His fiance is Turkish.
@Amisja. I have checked it out and he wasn’t a US citizen, he was Saudi Arabian and that was why he needed Saudi documentation from the embassy in Turkey.
@Marionville Oh he worked for Washington Post
@Amisja Yes, I knew that....it looks like he was definitely murdered on the orders of the Crown Prince, but will there be any real repercussions?. US and U.K. want to keep selling obscene amounts of arms to Saudi Arabia so they will say they are outraged and then carry on with business as usual!
@Marionville Radio 4 reported he was a US citizen. Possibly a dual national due to his employment. I agree with you, this man lost his life in an horrorfic way. Dreadful. His poor family.
he was a dissident. the saudi government is anything but liberal, whether or not it allows women to drive. it has a history of punishing dissidents. this was a particularly gruesome murder and dismemberment, following torture. the saudi government is claiming -- and coincidentally, trump is claiming, using the same language -- "rogue" persons murdered khashoggi. video and other documentation shows otherwise. huge surprise, that!
