So good people of the universe, how do you all handle the assumption from Christians that you believe in Jesus? I meet alot of people in my profession that assume I believe in Jesus and I find it a struggle to politely tell them that I don't without the feeling of them condeming my soul to hell.
For my job, I get a ton of that. People assume because I'm a disciplined person and try my best to be kind that I'm religious - Christian, specifically. It makes me feel bad that I can't really just say that I'm faithless. If I said it, I know it could be one small part in giving people a different sense of what constitutes making a person ethical. It's hard to hate a group when you know good people personally that are part of it. On the other hand, so many of the people that come to us are very dedicated church goers; they would leave and blacklist us possibly.
I just make it a point to keep religion out of work. If someone knows me outside of that, then they'll know my atheism. I've had those two worlds touch occasionally, but I remind the work part of life that it isn't allowed in my personal life. So far, that gets respected.
Welcome here! - where you can be yourself and not get a bunch of drama as long as you are nice to other people.
