I don't have to deal with that anymore.
I can say I'm an atheist with absolutely no fear of repercussions or reprisals.
If I were still working, I'd probably have to think twice about it.
It would depend on where I was working.

For my job, I get a ton of that. People assume because I'm a disciplined person and try my best to be kind that I'm religious - Christian, specifically. It makes me feel bad that I can't really just say that I'm faithless. If I said it, I know it could be one small part in giving people a different sense of what constitutes making a person ethical. It's hard to hate a group when you know good people personally that are part of it. On the other hand, so many of the people that come to us are very dedicated church goers; they would leave and blacklist us possibly.

I just make it a point to keep religion out of work. If someone knows me outside of that, then they'll know my atheism. I've had those two worlds touch occasionally, but I remind the work part of life that it isn't allowed in my personal life. So far, that gets respected.
