A satirical explanation for society's current stupidity... the smarter of us have made it so that society is a lot safer than it once was, and stupid people are better able to survive and reproduce which leads to society being dumbed down in general. From an evolutionary standpoint, it would make sense that stupid people would need to reproduce more often to better insure their genes get passed on ... at least it would in a dangerous uncivilized environment, and that making society safer didn't change their reproductive rates. So, the intelligent are just currently grossly out numbered.... and so we end up with stupid things like climate change denial, Brexit and Trump.
