Drink a glass of water from the far side of the glass. I've never had it fail. There is entertainment value in it as well.

Love the funny way you asked this question!

Hold my breath and quickly drink a full glass of water. Often I to do this twice.

I take as deep a breath as possible, & then hold it for as long as possible. Hasn't failed me, yet.

The best one I ever experienced was one time I had them and my father-in-law whipped out a dollar bill and said "I'll give you this dollar if you hiccup again." I couldn't.

Hiccups involve a cyclic nerve response in your abdominal muscles pushing out air. Holding your breath stills your abdominal muscles. A scare, drinking water, or ice down the back, can have a similar tightening effect on your abdominal muscles and sometimes works by breaking the cycle. Me, I hold my breath and pound on my abdominal muscles, but it only works well if I do it after the first two or three hiccups before the cyclical spasm has a chance to become fixed.

Exhale for as long as you can - gently. I read that on the site yesterday.

Haven't had a chance to try it myself yet.

Good luck!

Charge at them waving a butcher's knife. It works every time. It also works for constipation.

Holding my breath for as long as I can and remaining perfectly still, until I have to breathe again. Then I repeatedly take slow, deep, and regular breaths until the hiccups are gone.

The idea is to stop the irregular vibration in my diaphragm, then get it back to normal activity.

It may not be the best trick, but it works for me.
