I attended an exclusive all-boys Catholic high school back in the Philippines. I once asked my religion teacher as to why dinosaurs were not mentioned in the Bible at all. She answered,

"Why don't you erase that lipstick and eyeshadow off your face because you're NOT a girl? Now recite five Hail Mary's and proceed to the principal's office!"

Why change the topic altogether?

And this was in the 90s. As per school's policy, they required me to have a shorter boy's haircut.

I recently came across her Facebook page. She now lives in Australia and advocates Coalition for Marriage.

People always try to change the subject when they're too afraid to admit that there is something that they don't know.

I recommend talk therapy. It works!

I was in the Philippines in the late 70's and early 80's in the Navy. The general population of people are great, the food (aside from Balut) is tasty, and the mountains and beaches beautiful. That said, the mix of religion and government is screwier than here. The U.S. Navy offered to build and run a free health clinic, but was turned down because it was feared the clinic would offer birth control.

Balut is supposedly 'good' for the knees, as claimed by many. You won't hear of explanations for it (scientific or otherwise) without the sexual undertones. I'm not keen on 'balut' myself if I'm honest.

Enough to put anyone off religion for life

Hear, hear!

The reason the bible doesn't mention dinosaurs is that at the time it was written, science had not grown to the point of having an understanding of the actual age of the earth. They thought the world was only thousands of years old, whereas we now know thru carbon dating that the earth is about 4.5 billion years old. I have stated previously that the reason people of past eras believed in dragons is probably because they found a t rex skull and had no idea it was millions of years old.

Catholic and Christian schools, ouch. I taught, at the beginning of my career in a Catholic school. Hooboy. Someday my next novel will have that setting along with other crazy teachers I have known. Nuns- what to say. Have to admit I was never invited back to family class when, answering questions, I said I lived with my wife before marriage.

Well, you did pick on her weakness...so she retaliated by trying to bully you on what she perceived as your weakness....religion does that to people....fear and guilt .

Good thing it wasn't Sr. Mary Elephant or you would have gotten the haircut right there. Many years in Katlic Institutions and they all play by the same rule book. They don't know the psychological damage they infuse into the young minds which is why all I hear and see is that we all left and they can't figure out why. And lets not forget how many of them abandoned ship both religiously and lay wise. I don't see myself being redeemed at any time in the near future and I have a brother who is an ordanined priest or at least on paper he qualifies. They started the fire that they cannot extinguish and we know who started it. You have not fallen on deaf ears.

Sister Mary Elephant would have screamed in my face 'SHUT UP!' at the top of her lungs. (shivers) she sure is scary af

It's not uncommon for theists to switch subjects when they have no adequate response to a question. In their mind the answer is God gave us what we need to know and anything that science has that is a conditions to the Bible gets rejected and denied for as long as possible or until the appolgists can come up with an explanation. This explanation is usually mental gymnastics, but again that is all that is required, any excuse will do.

she didn't have an answer and was mad at you for catching her out. she was also an asshole.

The Bible does mention bohemoth and leviathan, which are arguably similar to some dinos or could be large mammals or extra large reptiles that we no longer have. Of course if they were dinosaurs then they must have been imagined from people at the time finding fossils. But youre right its strange that the old testament doesnt have several chapters or a whole book on them, if they lived alongside man until the flood like creationists sometimes claim (spoiler alert: they didnt).

Thank you for the info handsome 🙂 I would have liked that T. rex become friends with all creatures big and small inside the ark and roar atop Mt Ararat and slide down the LGBT rainbow 🙂
