When do I really miss having a man around? When I'm frustrated as hell trying to hook up electronics and get them to work. Maybe what I really need is an eight-year-old kid.
During my two 4 year enlistments in the Air Force,I was an aircraft weapons mechanic, troubleshooter on why bombs hung up,or why there was a missile problem, using logic to fix the problems,I still use to this day the same logic paths on cables, and software(if possible). Got good at it, so got moved to Maint.Debreifing, talking to the Pilot's to answer any questions they had.
The draft was getting close, and rather than being called up,I enlisted for initially 4 years,so while my classmates were marrying, having kids and later divorcing,I was over in the heat and humidity of Thailand, working on the aircraft and weapons release systems.
I don't have problems with electronics or spiders or opening things either. Or a whole lot of other stuff. I suppose you become pretty self sufficient after living with an incompetent ass for 22 years. He couldn't do any "man" stuff without fucking it up.
Mine destroyed more than he ever fixed.
@Deb57 Mine too. I didn't let him touch a lot of stuff, plumbing, electrical, the car, furniture building, on and on.
Yep a kid for sure. I think too many are on antidepressants and sex is not a thought
Yeah, I'm a man and I get frustrated hooking up electronics too. It used to be 2 a power cord and 2 speaker wires and you're done. Now you have all that plus 12 more wires, wifi, DVD and a bunch of other stuff I know nothing about.
I'll be glad when my grandkids are old enough to hook it up for me.
The YouTube sugestion is the best. There are numerous didactic videos that show a step-by-step process for almost anything.
I’m OK with electronics, it’s spiders that are beyond me.
You can do that at least as well as any man. Perhaps even better, as you can take a few moments to read the instructions without feeling they're a challenge to your masculinity.
If there had been instructions with the piece of electronics I would have gladly read them. My ex threw away or lost instructions for electronics shortly after purchasing them. One of his many unfathomable habits.
Fortunately, I can muddle through most electronic basics. So no 8yr old , thanks.
But it's the hugging/kissing/messin' around that I miss !
This time of the year,is tough on the formerly Married,Divorced,Widowed,Widowers, and Singles. Our society is set up for couples, when a pair break up,suddenly, invitations to gatherings are less, almost as if you are shunned, through no fault of your own. Women view other suddenly single Women with almost fear, perhaps afraid she will steal her Man away. But that's my opinion...
@JrhQ12 Sadly(maybe not)? I don't have either, I married at 43,and she had been sterilized after her 3rd child with her 2nd husband(I was #3),27 years(26 good ones until her cancer diagnosis),and she went quick, gone in 13 months time,I have the memories now,but at night the not so good ones visit; The radiation, and later Chemotherapy.Too little, too late.........
