It is extremely annoying when people on social media say "Sending prayers your way"(SPYW) as if magical beams of light will suddenly emit from their bellies like Care Bears trying to turn dark clouds into fluffy white ones again.

Agreed.Pray a limb back on.If the prayer fails 'It's god's will" If it works it's from praying.However if you really do believe in prayer,religion,fairy tales,it can put chemicals in your brain to help heal you.But so does an optimistic positive 'realistic' attitude.

What's annoying is that they believe the have the right to send them ...Another one is when they say "I will pray for you." as soon as you tell them you are an Atheist.
Once, a very adamant guy said to me "I am praying for your salvation." My answer was not nice but realistic. I said "You better pray for your daughter...who us 14 y/o, pregnant and with no hubby on site."

But its okay. Their prayers are like smoke signals going up toward the moon. You shall never see it, never feel it, never be impacted by it. Its kinda like saying, "hey... you don't believe in god? here, let me push this God Air in your direction so once you Inhale it: INSTA-BELIEF!
I find it is akin to having a pebble tossed at me as im in a giant hazmat suit. "Prayers you say...? Hmm sooo will you also send a leprachaun and a unicorn over after to read biblica verses with me??"
Its about like that for me. 
actually, scratch that. Make that a Rainbow Unicorn instead!

Trust me, what I said to this guy full of "morality amd decency" was a lot worse for him. a) because it was the truth and b) because I said it loud and clear for the people to hear me....and he is a well known guy un the community.
Sometimes I think that it is the female's equivalent of mansplaining.
