Is it just me or are the terms liberal and conservative being used more now than ever? Do these terms further divide the country?
Yes to divide and conquer. all governments have the same aim.
I would say so. We are becoming increasingly polarized and that is never a good thing. I used to look down on the folks in the center because they couldn't make up their minds. I understand why now though. Both political persuasions are losing sight of reason.
Divide and conquer, Shelton. A lot of this is diversionary to keep folks from paying attention to the important things that are going on and they don't give a damn who gets hurt in the process.
The world has seen these tactics before, but memories are weak just one generation later, and we now have two -- going on three. Even the rhetoric reminds me of it, and if we are not careful, we could be led down the same path.
I just thought I was angry and disgusted with my country when I came home in the mid 60s. That experience pales in comparison to what's going on now. At least there was some reason back then. Now it's all about power and wealth with no other focus. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if these assholes didn't jockey us into a conflict somewhere just to keep their game running without the public noticing it.
All about divide and conquer. Focus on our differences, and never find a middle ground. If we were all pulling together, imagine what we could do.
A lot of times people hide behind Independent or "no labels" or "all the parties are the same." This phenomenon usually happens when their standard party is screwing up. I will call people out when this happens. They will be an obvious tea party conservative sharing their 20th anti-Hillary meme and claiming they are unaffiliated. I will give them my "Own that shit" lecture which you don't want to get me started on. I am a biased liberal and I own it.
Both terms are used more frequently by the political right in an attempt to divide. They try to use the term conservatives to falsely identify themselves as the good guys. And they throw the term "liberal" around right and left at any opportunity in an attempt to label and vilify anyone who thinks differently from them. These are the propagandistic games they play.
Anymore than atheist and Christian do?
Good point, same church different pew.
