Has anyone noticed that when talking with conservatives they start out by talking about how corrupt democrats are then bring up something that's painfully false so that if you patiently explain the facts even they can tell it's bullshit then they ALWAYS change their position to both parties are absolutely corrupt.
It's as if it's better to say everyone is evil then to acknowledge that the republicans are politically the scum of the earth. I get it, your enemies have to be your enemies even if you acknowledge that your side isn't any better, but the point is they can not and will not ever give a single point to the other side.
I'm just shocked that it happens every single debate.

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.I’ve noticed they’ve no middle ground, which makes it easy for them to label you ‘A Liberal Democrat,’ while they side with & support Extremist Republicans… And now they’ve ‘forced you’ to defend some extreme leftist line - as if it’s yours..
And when you bring it back to middle ground, cuz that’s where you’re at - they’re lost -- they’ve only memorized the extremist rhetoric … and know nothing of the actual issues.. If you attempt to explain it to them ..they’ll throw up their arms in frustration … backing off with the fear of learning!
That, to me, is why they’re ‘unteachable.’ Brainwashed, yes, but for them to take a moderated stance - they’d have to understand facts and events they apparently can’t. But boy - do they know their guns, ammo, trucks, cuts of meat, ball teams, cheap beer, country music & nascar drivers

The people you're referring to in your last paragraph are those I see as ignorant rubes. They are beyond help or reasoning with, so I don't try. I just do my best to stay the hell away from them as they will always hate and not understand me. I wish they had their own separate country from me, but that will never happen and is impractical. So we live as estranged neighbors in our divided red/blue country. Boy, do I hate rednecks and the feeling has always been mutual..As a wise man once told me in college, confuse not the minds of the ignorant, they will only hate you for it.
Thank you for pinpointing why i'm skipping family thanksgiving.

I try to take them down the abstract ladder. To reality not fantasy. Treat them like children that need honest information. I come down to their level and talk like a parent. Doesn't always work but it has gotten me out of physical confrontations.
