Yesterday Afternoon I sat and watched with a very good, trusted friend a copy of films taken covertly of Asian, Sth. Korea featured particularly in it btw, Dog-meat Farms.
NOW, these are NOT farms growing food supplies for canines, they ARE farms for keeping either stray or stolen pet dogs solely for the purposes of supplying the Asian Market/s with dog flesh for HUMAN Consumption.
Now, try to remember that these 12 people who shot the films ( and I wish that I could've taken a copy to show everyone on this site) are NOT animal rights Activists in any way, shape nor form, they are simply people who care about our canine friends and companions.
What I am about to describe IS truly Horrific and both physically and emotionally disturbing to say the very LEAST.
IF you are prone to nausea/vomiting then I sincerely suggest you keep a bucket handy, you WILL need it, I did.
These dogs, stolen or simply 'rounded up' strays are kept in bare, filthy, unsanitary, draughty mesh cages in ALL kinds of weather, the cages have nothing in the way of bedding, the dogs are fed little more than scraps/leftovers, they must lay in their own filth, are given a very small dish with filthy water, approx. 1 pint every few days or so, beaten for howling, etc, and have NO choice but to watch as their fellow prisoners are DRAGGED out of cages, have rusty metal wire thrust through their ankle regions whilst still alive and then hung up, beaten either to unconsciousness, or mercifully death, ( but of the 11 I saw on the films were obviously merely unconscious) and then being slowly and methodically skinned since the pelts are also very saleable, then gutted ( whilst still alive and kicking I might add) and cut into saleable pieces.
At great personal risk, these 12 people managed to free some 8 dogs and smuggle them to a rescue point where they were then shipped out to the U.K. and France for veterinary treatment/assessment, etc.
Sadly, 2 dogs in particular died in transit, 1 is so traumatized that it will require months of extreme and very tender care and attention before it even gets to a point where it no longer actually hides from anything resembling a human being even though it shows absolutely NO signs of aggressiveness, etc when approached for treatment.
4 of the remaining dogs have been re-homed and are now family members, loved and cherished and one is awaiting clearance for re-homing.
Of the 12 people, 3 were treated for numerous cuts and abrasions caused by the Dog Farmers as they escaped and numerous types of things were thrown at them, 1 has needed to have 3 fingers amputated after being struck with a machette type instrument and the others are resting in a secure location.
They have tried to get media outlets to air their films BUT, in particular, ONE Western Government, who will remain unnamed for the time being, has THREATENED them with imprisonment in a 'Federal' Facility should they further attempt to release ANY information or film.
I am posting this fully aware that I am more than likely exposing myself to the Threats, etc, expressed by that certain Government BUT I a doing to honour the courage and self-sacrifice of those 12 people and try to bring awareness of the plight of dogs in some Asian Countries.

Please think of what, no matter how small it may be, YOU can do to try and eradicate this barbaric savagery.

I agree that dogs are being mistreated in the market place. A food animal should never be mistreated. Imagine how Hindu people feel about us slaughtering and eating cattle. It is not going to stop me from having a good steak.
