So... if you don't scroll down a post you may miss some awesome points/insight. I've seen clarification, insight, valid counterpoints.... all down the line in a post. Wonderful discussions!

If you just come and comment without scrolling are you truly joining in on the conversation or are you just giving your opinion? If you care enough to comment words you like to see what others think as well?

Yes! I try. Sometimes if my time is limited I will bookmark a post just so I can go back to it later.

Did something happen that prompted you post this?

Maybe we do, maybe we don't.... Can't remember everything anymore anyway

I always read other's comments to a post before commenting, and generally avoid simply repeating another's statement unless I have something valuable to add to it or expand upon. I keep it at a like for the comment to express agreement, like the original post to show appreciation for the discussion, and move on.

@pepperjones I couldn't agree more.

I do pretty much the same thing, although I do wonder sometimes if others might think I'm not contributing enough because I often don't add my own comment.

If you view with an open mind your opinions and views can be changed by some very good arguments and facts

Excellent point. I try to do at least two things when looking at a post:

  1. Make a general survey, to see if some broad consensus is emerging. It's (for me) kind of like taking the pulse of the community.

  2. I look for dissenting, or unpopular replies. These are VERY VALUABLE to me, because they often spur the deepest reflection, and insightful commentary.

Of course, sometimes my attention span does not cooperate, but I never claimed to be perfect....

For the record, I scrolled down all the way and read all previous comments before making this one! LOL! Yes. Good point!.

@pepperjones Now, now, he undoubtedbly has more good points than just personal wealth....😛

@Deveno I think it is far more accurate to say that I have just as many good points as I am rich in personal "wealth." 🙂 At least my friends would agree that I have some personality. Not a lot. But some. 🙂

@KenChang I was,you know, just having a bit of fun with a play on her words. But you handled it with grace and style. Kudos to you, sir.

To be honest if I see a post that's longer than my screen it tends to lose my interest unless the header and opening really grab me. But I don't post on stuff I haven't read.

@pepperjones I see what you mean, no I'll have a to and fro with someone and also chip in on other comments 🙂

I usually read all comments before I add mine, unless there are like 400. Then I just skim. It’s also nice if the OP returns to egage with at least a few of the more salient points that have been made by commenters.
