Cat people, dog people and the five love languages.

Do you think there's any correlation between what type of pets people like and their style of giving and receiving in relationships?

I prefer quiet pets like rabbits. They show affection, silently, aren't overly needy or in your face (with their butt) but let you know when they want something.

I prefer quality time doing life with my partner, and physical affection, but am uncomfortable with loud, over the top declarations of love or needy, clingy partners.

Me and my rabbits are kind of like me and my boyfriend. We fit into each other's lives comfortably but are happy having our alone time.

I go to my daughter's house and the cats and dog won't leave me alone, they are constantly asking for attention and wanting food, toys, to go out, to come in, etc. It's too much for me. At night they sleep with me, often on top of me. Me and my boyfriend don't sleep entangled with each other and the one room my rabbits aren't allowed in is my bedroom.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a correlation.

I love dogs and have 2. By the way I have a small yard and they poo where I tell them to. I also have a cat. It chose to live at my house uninvited. Several cats have done that throughout my lifetime. They live outside and come to the door and tell me when they're hungry. I feed them, my dogs chase them and I get on the dogs for chasing them. I provided this last one a heating pad and a styrofoam house for winter protection before I had a shop. I've never considered myself a cat lover only a cat tolerator.

I am VERY different with animals than with people. I love rowdy rambunctious snuggly lovey crazy noisy critters that need a lot of attention. They might jump on me, bite me, lick me, scratch me, whatever and I'd love it. I hug them, kiss them, run around with them, rough house with them, snuggle them. Even other people's pets or strays I would treat the same way. I love being surrounded by lots of critters all day every day.

When it comes to humans, I can barely let them touch me and dog forbid I have to touch them. I don't like crowds of people and I don't like noisy people. Loud people are a turn off. It takes me awhile to accept another human being into my life and I have to feel comfortable with them to touch and be touched. I can be affectionate to certain individuals. Of course, I would only have relationships with people who like/love animals.

You have a gift that animals sense....they know you will protect and love them even at the expense of another human...I don't think that is a bad thing if it brings you and them joy...I admire that...

This morning I saw my neighbor talking to her cat, it was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came home and told my dog, we laughed a lot!

I love rabbits too, I have had many.

Yes I’m sure this is why I am single.

I like them both equally. If l had a pet raccoon or skunk, l would treat them the same as a dog or cat. I don't know what that says about me and my relationships with women.

That you like all kinds.... 🙂....

@thinktwice You ain't wrong. 😉

I prefer pets that have a designated place to poop, like cats. I prefer pets that have a life of their own, like cats.

I guess that correlates with the type of woman I prefer.

I thought your post was very insightful. Made me exam my own relationships.

I have cats because they are aloof and have no need for me. They have to have their affections earned, just as I have to have mine earned. That means giving them space to be what they are...being patient and independent...recognizing how smart they are...and when they finally give you their affection, it can come and go on a whim. I like my space and cats don't hold a grudge if you shush them out of a room or your bed...they don't take things personally. I am like that as well...tell me to call back or come back later...I don't need or want constant attention.

I also have dogs...that is a whole other post...lol

And I do believe there is still a chipmunk living somewhere in the house...I am finding his spent sunflower seeds around...I won't make it a pet...I leave that for my cats...

I was a cat person most of my life, then as finances opened up was able to fulfill my dream of dogs.
I love the same, hard, thoroughly. Having cats or dogs no difference. If you want to convey love in a way I understand words, acts of service and time work on me and I do the same.

eta: won't lie tho. Late dh spoiled me on gifts, but just gifts & none of the above = turmoil.

Every rabbit I've had would have killed me if it were bigger. That's all they thought of. I could tell. I hate rabbits.

I've had killer rabbits, it's a thing.

@CaroleKay every rabbit's dream

No.
Having pets isn't for everyone.
