The real origins of the peace sign. It began in England during peace protests in the late 1950's. It is a combination of the flag signals for Nuclear and Disarmament. It is not any sort of a symbol pertaining to sexual inclination.

Thanks. I'd always heard the peace sign originally stood for nuclear disarmament, but I never quite understood that because I didn't realize it sympolized the semaphore signals for n and d--and I was a boy scout.
