I don’t eat meat, but we cannot ignore the idea that, as far as the corporate world is concerned animals are utilitarian, they must have an economic raison d’etre. If farmed animals were not eaten, milked or ridden they would have no corporate reason to exist. For me it is not that they are farmed but the conditions under which that farming takes place. Ironically my first job was as a butcher.

In the United States, approximately 9 billion chickens are killed for their flesh each year, and 305 million hens are used for their eggs. The vast majority of these animals spend their lives in total confinement—from the moment they hatch until the day they are killed.​ Humans do NOT NEED to eat meat!!! Can't wait for the rabid meat eaters to start in on me.
