I live in this wacky state. Can't wait for it to turn Blue!

There are psychos in many positions where they can do harm. Ol' Orange is the worst, but this guy is almost as bad.

I live in Iowa, where a fetal heartbeat bill was passed with the approval of both houses of the legislature under Repub control and signed by a female Repub governor. The bill is equally draconian as this in its attitude towards women. What keeps baffling me is how these Repubs keep getting women to vote for them in numbers that allow them to win in my state. Maybe one answer can be found in The Handmaid's Tale, where the society has the role of the Aunts available for those women who choose to sell out their gender sisters in order to score a better deal and more status in the society. Maybe that is what Repub women do in order to live with more money or status in the present system.

Well this one of those times that the #metoo movement would actually benefit everyone.
So let me ask “ Just how many feel as though they’ve been accosted by this guy? “
I’m feeling a little accosted and I’m a man. ?

I think this bill will meet the same fate as his previous one, even in Oklahoma, and if not, it would probably succumb to lawsuits / challenges from inside and outside the state. It probably violates federal law.

On the other hand, it's useful to remember that there are plenty of people who seriously want to do crap like this and fantasize about getting away with it. The US has already transformed The Handmaid's Tale from a clever fantasy to a distinct possibility in little more than 2 years so ... who knows was 2020 or 2022 or 2024 will bring us? All I can say is I feel a little safer living about a 2 hour drive from the Canadian border, push come to shove ...

Yet the same senator probably rants against religious extremists. He should stop thinking "Muslims" and look in the mirror.

Why Texas? The article references Oklahoma.

Oops. Mistake corrected. I had Texas on my mind over another matter, now posted.

@Petter Honest mistake really. This is something Texas would probably do too.

@joeymf86 Any of the bible belt, really.

I often hope that nobody lives in Texas, just for their own good. Unfortunately, all my hoping has never worked. sad for them.

I live in TX but just won't allow the insanity to get too me.

Plotting my escape.
