FaFACTS ABOUT THE N.R.A.M PART II
Fact 2: The 1934 Firearm Control Act forbade prIvate ownership and use of assault and automatic weapons. Until that act was reversed by an abysmal court ruling in the late 1964s, there were NO mass school shootings, and almost no public mass shootings of any kind. The overall rate of gun violence was much, much, much less than it is today.

Fact 3: Prior to the revocation of the Firearms Act of 1934, the NRA was an organization devoted to promoted to sensible hunting and to firearms safety. I was a member in the 1950s as a teenager. After a terrible Supreme Court ruling gutting the Act in 1968, gun manufacturers saw an opportunity to make more profits by making and selling dangerous weapons which had been banned. Whether it did so of its own initiative or at the urging of fun manufacturers, the NRA hugely changed its mission to that of maximum arming of the civilian population in the USA. In either case, its motivation was nothing more than sheer greed.
