I may need that.

No "may" about it for me. I seldom manage more than 3 hours of bed without having to head for the head.

@Petter It is hit or miss with me. Some nights I make it through, some night I have to disturb my kitties more than once. If it isn't the bladder it is hot flashes!! Hot flashes may be worse, except I don't have to get out of bed, just throw the covers off for a while. It has been 20° F (-7° C) outside and I'm still running a ceiling fan.

@HippieChick58 Hot flushes (English version of them) so late in your life? Wow! Commiserations indeed. In the 32 years I have lived in this part of Spain, the lowest it has ever gone was 1.5 degrees Centigrade. Most years the lowest point reached is around 6 degrees, and some years only 10 degrees.
I always sleep with the bedroom French windows wide open, summer or winter. Were it that cold, I would be tempted to wet the bed rather than leave the warmth of my thick duvet.

@Petter The myth I believed was that after menopause the hot flashes went away. No such luck. And because I'm losing weight; fat stores estrogen, fat loss releases estrogen, and estrogen causes hot flashes. Yeah, exciting times. As for winter in Nebraska, USA, we haven't dipped below 0° F yet, and winter hasn't even really started. With our early winter weather this year, January might be hell.

@HippieChick58 Ah! I've learned a new bit of science. Thanks for that. I'll store it away in the dank, dark recesses of what passes for my mind.
Hell is supposed to be full of fire and brimstone, so you can look forward to an enjoyable winter, after all!
