I was asked why I even care about this so here's why:
Why do I care?
Why do I care.....
Well I'm actually glad you asked that. I'll tell you why I care.
I care because this is about so much more than a cross in a park.
I care because we've allowed a particular religious group to bend and side step and break rules and sneak laws in that directly promote their religion. And why wouldn't they? Their very holy book tells them to spread the gospel and "shout it from the mountaintops", so of course they are going to promote their religion. Their god tells them to. And our constitution protects their right to do so, and rightly so...to a point.
Why do I have a problem with this? Why am I being so vocal? Because yet again, christian sensibilities are infringing on my right to freedom from religion.
It's not just about this cross. It's about 'In God We Trust' plaques inside government buildings and on our currency and even on police cars. It's about ten commandments displays in courthouses. It's about trying to convert children in the public school system. It's about the hundreds of bills in legislation promoting specifically christian ideals.
It's not ethical. It's unconstitutional. I am a working, tax paying citizen of this country and I love my country. I have every right to feel threatened by this and to be vocal about my reasons.
I don't want to live in a theocracy. Do you? Because if anyone wants to, then move to the middle east. See how stable and happy they are? No? Ok then.
It is a fact that when you allow someone undue liberties over the course of time, they begin to view those extra treats as their right. And even though they knew in the beginning it was not their right to those things, they cop an attitude and start whining about being cheated.
That's what is going on here. The entities who put that cross up surely had the agenda of promoting their religion. The reason the cross stayed is because enough people didn't care enough to say anything about it otherwise. But it was wrong as soon as it went up on public property. And now that people are saying something, christians are in a self righteous uproar because they feel persecuted.
Am I wrong? Cause if I am, I'm a big fan of peaceful debate. I won't personally attack or insult anyone because I'm better than that. But I will fight this. There is much at stake.
But with all the palatial churches we have in the area, and come on, there's some winners...with all that well groomed land...why pick the local public park?
That 2 million dollar monstrosity out by Branson, while utterly wasteful and ridiculous, is on private property.....so I shrug, and move on.
Oh poor Ozark, the whining christians
They're gonna whine...lol
What does a giant "sign of the cross" mean? Poor Christians. Now the song.
"Yes there is power, power, wonder working power
in the sign of the electric chair."
This whole idea makes no sense. If Jesus was from another time we could have the injection needle or the .357 magnum.
This is great!
