I have to admit, I like putting on Americans. Sorry, but it is just a Canadian instinct. A number of years ago I was doing business over the phone with an American from the southern states and I forgot that he was. He asked me what the temperature was in Canada (apparently it's like health care - one temperature for the whole country). Without thinking I said it was about 20 degrees. "Wow, it's only 20 in June?" he exclaimed. Realizing my mistake, I reminded him that we use celsius temperatures here so 20 degrees was shirt-sleeve weather. "Long or short sleeve?" he asked. My instincts kicked in and I said "Short sleeve? Oh, yah, I've seen that on American TV. You have short sleeve shirts down there. I guess that's because of your constitutional right to bare arms." "I don't think you all understand our constitution correctly," he drawled.
