Depending on the translation, the word we say as virgin could mean simply young woman. And history of the time shows no calls for people to census or pay taxes at their home cities (Romans kept meticulous records). Also Herod died in 4BC. And no mentions of mass infanticide. It is a stolen story from multiple times and sources including Egyptian more, Buddha, and a number more.

I always like how genealogy was covered about Jesus in the bible. Mary, a woman, and in that culture not important was given as one. But since her status in society wasn't viewed as meaningful, they put in Joseph's lineage - his step-dad, who had no blood ties. But hey, don't think about it, just believe Jesus is royalty b/c it fits our agenda.

Don't forget the geneologies given in different books don't match.
