It sounds like those old spam emails that used to go around that would say send this to ten people and all your dreams will come true and if you don't, you will die.

She probably had good intentions but it sounds more like superstitiousness than religion.

This is what you do... Ok it's going to take a year but it's nice to have this handy.
Get a red Libman broom, some white duct tape, stripe the broom in white tape like a candy cane.
Print out a sticky label that says "Sweep the skies in Holiday style". Put a bow on it and save it for special occasions you get "gifted" something thoughtless like this

One year I was prepared for yet another xmas of mother in law derp(snarky remarks, passive aggressive gifts she was so fond of) & carried just this broom around in the trunk of the car in case it was "one of those" christmases. It worked like a charm. I never had to give it to her. LOL

I still have it tho.... just in case ?

I recommend a cache of similar "just in case" gifts for special occasions like this.

I have prayed to more saints and gods and goddesses and angels and even the Big Guy. Brad Pitt STILL has not returned my call.

I take all gifts in the spirit given. I also give gifts to far right wing relatives that fly in the face of their religion. I donate to Planned Parenthood in their names. I feel good about it and I hope that they will appreciate the irony.
