Time - the most misunderstood concept in science.
The most popular view of time came from Einsteins general theory of Relativity which suggests time is effected by
gravity and speed. The Big Bang Theory is partially
based on this idea.
This is largely because Einstein was considered a genius
in Physics, but he didnt understand time.
Time as I understand it, is a constant, unaffected
by gravity, speed or any force in the Universe.
Time is simply an infinite stream of nows. And time
passes at the same rate everywhere in the Universe irregardless of what occupies any particular space.
Time does not slow down or speed up. Time dilation
is the effect gravity has on devices, not on Time.
The Big Bangers believe that time "started" about 14 billion
years ago, and before that there was some sort of "pretime"
which makes no sense. If you believe there was a 10 billion
years ago, then you also have to believe there was a 100 billion years ago, etc. Time doesnt start or stop.
Religions are popular because they offer a simple explanation of how man was created. Evolution, which is true, is far more complicated.
The BBT is like a religion to scientists, a simple
explanation of a possible beginning.
Infinite time, with no beginning is a more difficult, and a true concept.

Many things stated above are not true. read the book Time author scientist that died recently ,I cannot remember his name.He was English and also came up with string theory.

Name one thing that isn't true.

It's all wibbly wobbly.

You should read The Order of Time by Carlo Rovelli. You won't agree with it, but he is a theoretical physicist.

I thought ‘gravity’ remained the mystery.. Though have found it fascinating that it’s ‘weak force’ can be calculated to be evenly distributed between several dimensions. Time’s a good one, though..

one of the many proofs that Einsteins theory is accurate is GPS. That's right the thing you look at or hear when you are driving.
The fact is that the atomic clock that is used on the satellites that orbit the earth have to be adjusted to the fact that they travel at such a high speed, need to take that into account. so when any device on earth reads that digital signature of a triangular, or more time clocks, they will be in sync with the others.
if Einsteins theory was wrong, GPS wouldn't work.

Einstein was wrong - time is a constant. You are referring to time dilation. Gravity does have an effect on matter, not time.

@gater I don't mean to be rude, or judgemental, but what education, or more, which published papers do you have to support your claim.
I only ask because through my own education I was brought up to question everything, so I understand criticism. But I've always been able to show proofs, or correlated evidence to support any ideals, or ideas.

@TristanNuvo Its like a puzzle, and theres only one correct solution. You test theories until you find a flaw in the theory, then you revise it and test that theory. Ive concluded after many years of study that time and space are infinite - its true and its simple.

NASA scientists are said to have taken a sample of a radio active material cut it in half kept one-half (as a control) on earth while they put the other half in orbit above the earth (very high speed), when the sample was brought back to earth, the radio active decay was less than the sample that stayed on earth, supporting the principal that time slows down the closer something travels to the speed of light.

You are misinterpreting the results.

@gater So you say, but do not explain. Do you have the ability to make a scholarly rebuttal? If so, lets hear it.

@dahermit Gravity effects matter, but has no effect on time.

@gater That experiment (radio active decay), no one said that it was "gravity" affecting the rate of radioactive decay...the experiment was intended to support the theory that time for objects approaching the speed of light (the portion orbiting earth), time would slow down. Please no more dismissive, throw-away statements...they are just annoying and are not "scholarly rebuttals".

@dahermit You said material - that's matter. Gravity effects matter - not time.

@gater From you pedestrian answers to my queries, I have to conclude that you do not have the capacity to participate in a scholarly debate and thus continued discourse will not be productive.

@dahermit Agreed - my answers go over your head.

@gater Yes, you are right...I cannot compete with your eighth grade education.

How do you know all this? Do you know with absolute certainty? Do you really understand time on a deep level?

yes I absolutely understand time and space.

@gater So you say, but for the brevity of your posts you could just be someone with a lot of tattoos and body piercings.

I know nothing but I like to think that the universe expands & contracts eternally. Eternity is a concept we are uncomfortable with due to our species need for boundaries. A beginning & an end.

You are correct about our species, most can't grasp infinite concepts, they believe everything has to have a beginning, that's why the ridiculous Big Bang Theory is so popular. Space does not expand or contract.

@gater If space is filled with dark matter then it is possible that it is expanding & then may contract into the big crunch. But who the hell knows? Not me for sure.

@Countrywoman Matter occupies space, but it has no effect on space.

The religous idiots don’t have a clue. They just can’t accept evolution or the Big Bang as it’s just to complicated.

Some of ‘em must understand.

The concepts behind the big bang were first developed by Georges Lemaître, a Roman Catholic priest.

@WilliamFleming Then I wonder why they still embrace religion.

@WilliamFleming Right, and largely based on Einsteins General theory.

Actually my point was Religion and the BBT are simple. Evolution and Infinite time and space are more complex.

@Trajan61 I’m guessing there’s something more to their religion than belief in dogmas. Ask them.
