It wasn't by much. It's just notable because people don't expect U.S. or Korean car reliability but both had car companies that did well.

@Biosteelman I just read the chart. All of my toyotas, lexus and Honda sedans hit 250 think with no repairs. My gm brands never made 100.

@Bigwavedave it is only recent cars not a historical look. Specifically the current model owned for 3 years as the benchmark

@Bigwavedave then you should use the Consumer Reports guide that is based on lifetime ownership but limited to a pool of CR customers.
I think they both have merit. The JD Power is great for detecting marginal changes and future expected short run longevity but the C.R. Is good for a historical reference and a long term view. It should be noted within the report itself it said the variance of dependability has narrowed greatly amongst car brands.
