He'll eventually realise it's pointless and switch to the Chinese approach instead. They have face recognition everywhere and will soon eliminate all the criminals of the kind that so worry Trump. Then, if he still wants to reduce immigration, he can supply the same technology to the whole of Latin America so that the crime that drives migration can be eliminated there too. Once the whole continent is peaceful, the entire problem will go away and people will be free to move about as they please without it feeling like any kind of invasion.

We're most of the way there already - people reveal all their activities with their phones. The people who most need to be watched are the ones who are deliberately not carrying one. Another weapon to use against the criminals is a cashless society - once all transactions can be traced, you can't do anything with ill-gotten gains.
fabulous. that way while we're waiting he can displace people who currently live and work where the wall is to be built, whether or not they want to move; monarch butterflies and other wildlife can be pushed further toward extinction as their habitatrs are destroyed; and meanwhile much of that money will go not to actual construction but to building more detention centers (to profit trump's friends) so that more little children can die, instead of to hiring more people to process the legitimate asylum-seekers now being tear-gassed and turned away.
