It's important to remember that rushing around madly with our hands waving in the air looks like a heightened state of activity but it rarely gets the job done faster or better than taking your time and doing it right the first time.. 😉

I'm reminded of a finish carpenter named Randall MacFadden who did beautiful work, slow, methodical and beautiful - clients requested Randall by name. One day the boss showed up on the job in a bad mood and started to tell Randall how to do things faster, how he needed to get the lead out and speed things up. Randall actually produced an impressive amount of work and more importantly there were never any call backs because I never saw him make a mistake, not once.
Anyway, after about a half hour of the boss stomping around the job site, Randall started to pack up his tools. The boss started yelling, what the hell did he think he was doing, it was only 3 in the afternoon but Randall didn't say a word, just packed everything into his truck and drove away. The client came to the site a little after that and asked where Randall was and the boss had to tell him that he had just drove off and it didn't look like he was coming back, the client explained that Randall better be back the next day or the job was off. The boss started to call Randall at home but no answer, this was before cell phones were common and he called a dozen times but no answer so he had to drive out to Randall's house in the country. The way I heard it Randall told the boss that he liked the quality of work he did for the company but if he had to put up with any further direction then he would not be coming back to work again for the company, ever. The boss said Okay and that was the end of that, the boss never gave instruction on how to do things to Randall again.

Kind of like the old " if you don't have time to do it right, when do you have time to do it over."
