Well the blessed independant state of Oswaldtwistle is cold wet and rainy. It is also very windy. Someone over the back was finishing off their Christmas booze and having a heated argument and someone's gate was banging all night. Consequently I haven't bloody slept. Oh to be somewhere warm with someone warm right now.
For what it's worth, I'm by myself in sunny Florida. You're welcome to join me. I have beer.
Ok...order me a beer, plane takes about 6 hours!
@Amisja Great! I'll order an English pizza too. I think it has fish and chips on it or something like that.
@Sgt_Spanky blurgh...thats fine. I eat local food.
Cold day here but the sun has some warmth and noticed it was much brighter at 7:30 as I had my morning coffee too. hope you get your wish
Here on Virginia’s blue ridge (county with the highest sustained height in the state), I left my furnace on pretty high last night ..cuz if the power was to go out from our current ice storm, it’s fan won’t run. Woke up to a neighbor scraping ice from his driveway, I think he’s given up Most folks are off the roads and hunkered down, for a high of ‘freezing’ today.
looks like a nasty storm - glad its missing us. need power for the Pats game this afternoon too!
@bookofmoron It’s a weird one, more frozen rain and ice pellets than actual snow.. I’m cozy, and the power’s on
@Varn nothing wronmg with a good storm day! Natures way of telling us to slow down and stay safe - could use one here lol
I always take a holiday by the Med. in mid winter. This year just before Christmas I spent each evening sat by the sea with a coffee, watching a bat flying round a small harbor against a warm sunset. I can never understand why people all rush to take their holidays by the Med. in the summer, where's the gain in that ?
Invite me next time. Problem was my uni massively over subscribed students, we ended up with 120 extra of the little darlings. I was teaching often until 7pm at night. I was exhausted by Christmas, then my lad was (is) sick, so its been nonstop. I don't mind winter, just could use a break.
@Amisja Yes I know my work is seasonal and I hardly ever get a break from April to September. Well it may be cold and gray tommorow as well, but your lad will soon get well, spring is not far away, the days get longer, you can always look back at all your happy students, because everyone is allowed a little smugness now and again, Oswaldtwistle is oly a tiny distance from some of the loveliest places in England if you can only make an hour for yourself. And in the mean time I ticked the hug icon for you. Ok not much but its the best I can do.
Sorry about your bad night, it was windy here too, but this morning has been calm and sunny...quite mild again for January too at 9 degrees. Maybe a nap after lunch will make you feel better if you could manage one. Failing that, now that it’s technically afternoon ....a bloody big glass of whatever your tipple is!
Sounds fab except its wanky dry Jan and sunday is my cleaning laundry and ironing day!
@Amisja Well, I am not having a dry January, so I’ll raise my glass of G &T to you!
@Marionville Oh fab...in fact have one for me. I have 6 bottles of gin gathering dust under my stairs....roll on feb
Oswaldtwistle?
That's midlands Blackburn/Preston way, isn't it?
MIDLANDS????? Oh never repeat that to me again!!!! North my dear. I am a Lancashire lass. I have cotton and moorland running through my very fibre. Midlands...pah
@Amisja are you familiar with Bolton? That’s where my parents met and my grandparents lived. I stayed there for a year when I was seven.. only faint memories though. They came to Canada more often.
@ToakReon, @Green_eyes I know Bolton very well. My partner teaches in a school there. Its literally 30 mins drive from me.
@Amisja I have a cousin and Aunt that still live there. Very neat.
@Green_eyes Well next time you are over, come for food. (And gin)
