There are hopeful statistics:

  1. 65% of American churches have a weekly attendance of less than 100 people, including children.
  2. 70% of all young people who grow up in church leave the church by their 20's.
  3. 44% of U.S. adults say that God plays no role whatsoever in their life.
  4. 62% of all churches in America are having no growth or declines in their congregations.
  5. More than 2 million people have left the church every year for the past 7 years.

Hmm, two million leavers... 65% Christian on the last census at 350 million people, that’s 227.5 million Christians, two million leavers a year means roughly 114 years before the church runs out of people. Not exactly dying as such, it’ll take a few generations yet.
