'It's gotta end now!' Trump offers three-year DACA fix for $5.7 billion of wall funding in sweeping reform Pelosi calls a 'non-starter' – as top aide says president could STILL declare an emergency and build it on his own
President detailed his latest offer to end the shutdown from the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House on Saturday afternoon
He offered three years of legislative relief for 700,000 DACA recipients — including protection from deportation
Also offered a three-year extension for Temporary Protective Status designates, including those from El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras and Nicaragua
Wants $5.7 billion for the 'strategic deployment of physical barriers, or a wall,' that he will use to put 'steel barriers in high priority locations' along the border
He declared in 13 minutes of remarks: 'I want this to end. It's gotta end now'
President's acting chief of staff says Trump still has authority to declare national emergency and continue building a border wall without congressional approval
Offer will be brought to the floor of the Senate this week, where it could be filibustered
Even if it passes the Senate it will be up to Nancy Pelosi to put it on the floor in the House; she called it a 'non-starter' in a statement before Trump's speech

[posted this elsewhere] Don’t know where I’m finding the optimism, but as a longtime advocate of securing our borders and discouraging illegal immigration, this sounds like a decent proposal to me.

What sickens me is how willing he and the Republicans were to push this issue as opposed to a national healthcare program… I believe allowing the government to shut down under Obama was an effort to give us health care, which he did.

And.. there’s that wag-the-dog concern with trump ..as his day of reckoning nears ~

I'd rather see that $5 billion go for repairing and upgrading the nation's infrastructure.

Trump seems to be insane...he would definitely qualify for mental health services. LOL

I agree with your statement, but I would eliminate the "lol" part. He's NUTS. He has no understanding of others, of the impact he has on others, what other people might want, etc. All he understands is himself.
