Where might I buy a funky/edgy CANE or walking stick, something that doesn't look boringly/stigmatizingly clinical? Lovely spouse has ankle-replacement surgery soon. Whenever she graduates from crutches, if a cane might be useful at least during rehab weeks/months, I'd love to able to give her a fun one.

PS. Since she's an atheist, too, it should not look like the one in this photo.

Walmart, of all places, carries some of the old-fashioned, wooden styles. So does Amazon. Might be a local dealer for you to discover online, too. (BTW: Your picture shows a staff, not a cane. Good for hiking, not so much if you need to put your weight on it, such as after an injury.)

Trekking poles are great. Get collapsible poles so you can adjust the height. This makes it easy to store.

I found some nice one's at the Thrift Shops. They are easy to refinish. You can go out to the woods and search out your tree of choice and cut down a limb (not the tree) and peel and season it accordingly. Go online and you will find some outlets who will sell you the basics and you can build what you want or can afford.

I have used canes, walking sticks, etc for knee problems, balance problems, for 35+ years...let me assure you that the almost-90-degee padded handle, if you really need assistance, is Absolutey Essential unless you want hand & shoulder to start being painful, very quickly! Even the rounded-over handles are just gawdawful after a half hour! The aluminum adjustable kind with the correct handle, are available with lovely prints...paisley, etc, at Walmart or pharmacies. Cute is only cute for 3 minutes when you have to actually Use the thing, and the adjustable feature is Very important!

That's a tough one. I've seen custom ones occasionally at craft fairs. Good luck! Have you tried Amazon?
