Is it hard to find your place when you aren't into the heavy drinking party scene anymore and obviously aren't religious?

Our place where? When I did drink, it was fine wine in small amounts.
Why would I want a "place" with religious people?
I tend to hang with like-minded people, who enjoy the same things, so no religious people.

I don't think I ever had a place and I've never been into heavy drinking... or even light drinking and I've never partied much less done so in any sort of way that could be described as hardy. Religion has almost never influenced my social life at all. The few times I've gone to church was a great way to remind me how unsettling and weird churches are.

It can be hard because I'd rather drink in the company of only a few people, and parties/clubs are too much of a cluster fuck for my liking.

I've tried several times to go out and 'enjoy myself' at clubs and bars of that nature, and the experience has always been incredibly hollow after all is said and done regardless if I may have had a bit of fun. Quieter more low key parties can be fine, but those big, loud, and crowded ones are just insufferable. If I gotta shout or significantly raise my voice then there is a problem. So most of the party scene is stricken off my radar because it's just such an empty experience in the end. Smaller scope is fine, but those feel more like get together than anything else.

I'll drink out with a friend or two at certain places, but I mind my own business and don't over indulge because I don't wanna murder my wallet. Me and my best friend will partake in some drunken fun at his place once a month or so. He lives two blocks away so it's an easy walk home which means I can get pretty hammered. But this is something I only do with 1 or 2 people with our own personal liqueur reserves as we catch up on events and discuss whatever.

It's hard to find my place in any party scene. Not because of religion or alcohol, but because I'm not really a small talker or conversation starter. The topics I speak about might be considered "uncool" for a party. I've always felt awkward at parties.

I gave away most of my drinking almost 40 years ago, people consider me boring because of it, oh well.
Sadly at work parties, I got to play boss because my CEO liked to get plastered.

Yup not that many religious nuts from UK but drinking is a way of life . Really struggling to think of a way to get a social life now that I don't drink .

That’s why god made pot

When it's not legal in your country it's hard to find unless you want to befriend really dodgy people

Pretty much. But even going out to bars got exhausting. So much drama. The one nice thing about "church" was that it was a lot easier to meet people. Even on MeetUp these days it's hard to find ways to connect.

I've never been into the heavy drinking party scene , and have not been to a church service in over 50 years . What are your current interests ? Facebook has an , "events ," you can click on to see what's going in your neighborhood . Find things you like , and go . Eventually you'll meet folks with like interests , and you may even find interesting things you've never given thought to before . Last year , I found a Greek Festival , This year , I've noticed a German Festival , and they're doing Marti Gras at the Woodlands . Could have also checked out Chinese New Year a week or so ago . I like SciFi Cons myself .

There are many other places to be other than church and a bar. Maybe being here will guide you.

That probably depends on where you are. Where I am it's very difficult.
