President Trump's latest move threatens the health and safety of the American people.
Since he became Acting Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency — after a swell of grassroots activism forced his predecessor, Scott Pruitt, to resign his post — Andrew Wheeler has undermined sound science, failed to act on toxic chemicals endangering Americans, and attacked safeguards that protect us all from harmful pollution.
His committee vote is rapidly approaching on February 5th. We can’t let another person hostile to EPA’s mission take the helm at the agency charged with protecting us from pollution.
Take action today, and tell your Senators to stand against this dangerous nomination.
Here’s just a sampling of the many reasons Wheeler is unfit for this position:
He has launched an attack on the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards that were finalized 8 years ago and save up to 11,000 lives every year.
He’s also working to unravel the Clean Car Standards — issuing a proposal that would unleash billions of tons more climate pollution and cost the average U.S. family hundreds of dollars in higher gas bills every year.
And he has dutifully continued Scott Pruitt’s precedent of undermining the 2016 bipartisan chemical safety law, the Lautenberg Act, by allowing EPA to ignore known exposures to dangerous chemicals when evaluating their risks, weakening review of new chemicals before they can enter the market, and failing to finalize proposed bans on high risk uses of three toxic chemicals.
And who could forget his efforts to unravel the Clean Power Plan — America’s first-ever national limits on carbon pollution from power plants — and replace it with a program that would increase pollution from the power sector and cause more Americans to die early?
No one taking these positions should be allowed to take up the mantle of leading EPA’s life-saving and essential mission.
And we’re running out of time. Take action today, before it’s too late, and tell your Senators to stand against Wheeler!
trump purposely installs the worst - in order to tie up the best among us … as a way of keeping people off his trail of corruption..
What’s tragic, to perhaps the point of comical, is how the very idiots supporting him will be some of the first adversely affected by his dastardly appointments. Too bad the scattered majority will also suffer ~
Will do -I sign and post all relevant surveys. Is there a petition out there?
